Scout Camp Week 1 & 2

Jonathan is loving his 2nd year as a camp counselor up at Maple Dell Scout Camp. This year he is a PAID employee, which makes it even better. The first week was staff week, where he basically did training all week. He is working in Aquatics, so he had to be trained in life guarding, first aid, & the rowing merit badge. He also had to complete all the BSA Leadership training. He said it was a great week.
Last week was the first week they had scouts at camp. Jonathan is teaching the rowing merit badge with another camp staff, whose personality clashes with his. It is a good learning opportunity, as he figures out how to work with someone that is so unlike him, and be successful at it. It'll help him on his mission especially. He is also a troop friend & he was assigned to a troop from Provo, whom he really got along with. They gave him a nice knife at the end of camp.
He says every minute of every day is full of things to do & places to be. He came home Saturday, dropped his laundry in the laundry room, showered, & slept for five hours! On Sunday, he slept until 11 am. When he wasn't sleeping, he was eating. at 6pm on Sunday, he took off for another week of camp. It was great to have him home!
